Hayfield Heat Amateur Baseball Team

Open hitting at Hayfield High School will start this Sunday from 5:00-6:30 and continue every Sunday until baseball season (except Christmas and Super Bowl Sunday). Also, get in a little throwing so the arms are in a decent shape to start the season.

The Hayfield Heat battled the whole way, but couldn't get that big hit in a 5-1 loss to Miltona in the 2nd round of the state tournament.  It was a great  season and we look forward to even bigger things in the 2012 campaign!!

The Hayfield Heat defeated Hanska in the first round of the state tournament on Sunday 2-1. Hayfield now plays their second round game on Saturday August 27th vs. Miltona in Glencoe at 5:00pm.  If the Heat win that game they play the next day, again at 5:00pm, in Brownton.

The Hayfield Heat came up with two wins Saturday to qualify for the Minnesota Class C Amateur Baseball State Tournament.  In the first game Hayfied rolled past Winona with a 9-4 win.  The Heat put the game away in the 4th inning with six runs.  Hayfield then played Owatonna with the winner going to state and the loser going home.  Things looked bad early as Owatonna scored three first inning runs aided by three Hayfield errors.  Hayfield scored one run in the second inning, but the score was still 3-1 going into the eighth inning and thats when the bats got hot.  The Heat put together four runs, three of which came with two outs, to take a 5-3 lead.  Weston Hanson pitched a perfect ninth inning and the celebration was on!  Now Hayfield will take on Hanska out of Region 2.  The game is Sunday August 21st at Glencoe starting at 11:00am.

Saturday the Heat faced the Owatonna Aces in the first round of regional play and anything that could go wrong did go wrong as the Heat dropped a pathetic game 12-0.  After forgetting quickly about that game the Heat came back on Sunday to beat the Rochester Roadrunners 1-0 in an elimination game to advance to next weekend.  On Saturday the Heat will take on the Winona Chiefs at Marcusen Park starting at 1:00 in an elimination game.  If the Heat win that game then they will play at 7:00 Saturday night for a chance at a state tournament birth with the loser going home for the season.  If the Heat happen to win both games on Saturday then they will move onto Sunday for a seeding game for the state tournament with the first game at 1:00 and the if game at 4:00.  All these games are at Marcusen Park in Austin.  Come cheer on the Heat as they try to reach their goal of a state tournament birth!

The Heat play their first round regional game today against the Owatonna Aces at Marcusen Park in Austin starting at 2:00. Come out and support the Heat as they try to get one step closer to state!!
